Jema trained in Theatre Design at Nottingham Trent University, specialising in costume design. After leaving university, she worked successfully as a costume designer for many years before branching out and creating jewellery. The steampunk genre has always been one Jema was drawn to and so she soon found her niche. Now a published author, Jema runs her own Nottingham based workshop and regularly lectures at universities all over the country.
